So a message to the VOBA community we decided too give back and help a local charity or organization this year! We had come up with a couple of options such as The Childrens Hospital of Richmond at VCU, St Judes, and any other suggestions are excepted. We didn't get a solid vote on it at our Greenway Hunt, so please feel free to voice your opinion on our blog board. Just keep in mind this is our opportunity to give back to our community and get our organization in the public eye on a possitive note.

Callaville Hunt 1/9/16

Another great turnout for the VOBA at our first hunt in 2016. 293 dogs showed for our 3rd hunt of the season at Callaville Hunt Club. Big thanks to Callaville hunt club for having another great hunt an a awesome raffle with another YETI cooler for the grand prize. Congratulations to Zack Mizell taking 1st place in the male class with Pretty Boy (342) Congratulations to Thunder Struck Kennels for there 1st place female win with Lil Bit and to everyone else who placed a hound at the hunt. Congrats to Skinquarter for his Best Pack win with dogs 51,67,&719. Thanks for coming out to support the sport we love. See ya'll at the next hunt at Red Bank hunt Club in South Hill, Va on Jan.23,2016

We had another awesome turnout for our September Greenway Hunt. We had 257 dogs at cast. Congratulations to all that placed an to Beach Billy on his win in the male side with Duke an Congratulations to Phillip an Steve of Twin River Kennel with there win on the female side with Stella. Congratulations to Southern Styles' Wooten on his Best Pack win. BIG CONGRATS to Scott of Skinquarter Kennels on making Lil Bizzness an FC and to Beach Billy on making Duke an FC. Great job guys on raising and owning to fine beagles... See yall in January at Callaville.

120 dog max for this hunt

Puppys - 13 months or under as of May 31, 2013 (honor system papers not Req)

Old Timers- 6yrs + as of May 2013

Awards will be for top 10 in both classes + Best Mouth in Pup Class and Classiest Hound in the Old TImers.

Lunch will be provided to hunters and judges

NUMBERS

Most of you know that the fox preserves are under new regulations which only allows us to have a certain amount of dogs in the pen. With the limited amount of dogs we are going to let each dog owner/kennel get 3 pup numbers and 2 OT numbers, if you need more you will be put on a waiting list until everyone has a chance to get numbers. The number book will open Tuesday April 1 at 6pm, call Bert Davis at 1-804-248-3441 no calls after 9pm on week night please.

Rules

18" Max height limit
This is will be a 3hr hunt for both classes
This will be a judged hunt, not buddy judged
All dogs that place will be measured
Bench Show

All hounds are welcome to participate in the bench show. This will be done after the hunt.

Trophies awarded to Top 5 in both classes.

Championship Hunt!

The Championship Hunt results and pics will be posted soon! Congrats to Southern Style Kennels for winning the HPH class with FC Kaos and to Austin Arthur for winning the female class with FC Missy. Congrats to Twin River Kennels for winning the male class with Wimpy and to Homegrown Kennels for winning the female class with Whoa Whoa and to all other dogs that placed! Callaville HC put on another great Championship Hunt for us this year and had some awazing scores for the outside...great job!

We also made 2 more Field Champions at this hunt...FC Leadman from Dirtbridge Kennels and FC Kaos from Southern Style Kennels, making 4 FC's for this year's series...congrats!!

Thanks again to all the VOBA members and sponsoring hunt clubs for making this series one of the largest turnouts since we have been an Association!!

First hunt of the New Year upon us!!!

Our 1st hunt is right around the corner!! Jan 18, 2014 at Callaville Hunt Club in Brunswick VA. Registration will start around 5:30am, roll call at 7 and cast 7:30. Breakfast will be served as well as lunch. They usually have an awesome raffle as well. Callaville is usually one of the best hunts of the season so hope everyone can make it. Directions, Callaville Hunt Club- Off Interstate-95 take exit 20 west (Jarratt) to first stop light go straight across 301 and thru town of Jarratt. You will be on Allen rd and will drive by the wood mill plant, about a mile or so after that make a right on Wyatts Mill Rd come to the cross roads at purdy and stay straight and rd will turn into Smokey Ordinary Rd. Go about another 3-4 miles and the Callaville club house will be on your right. (**GPS 2967 Smoky Ordinary Rd, Freeman Va 23856)

***Everyone please try and get to registration early so we can get that all taken care of so we can cast as early as possible thanks.

1)Registration will start at 5:30am, breakfast will be served.
2)Roll call at 6:45 and hoping to cast around 7:30am or sooner.

Red Bank Hunt Club- Lunenburg VA 1) 460 to blackstone . Go threw blackstone on rt 40 till you get to Kenbridge. Take left on Rt 138 go about six miles take right on Brickland rd. Six miles club on left. 2) Off 85 exit 15 brings you to rt 1. Take left go 1/4 mile take right on rt 138 go about six miles an take left on brickland rd. Drive six miles an club house on the left. 3) Rt 58 to southhill. Take right on rt 1 ( Atlantic st.). 1/2 mile take left on to Chaptico rd.should be old gas station an a blue H--hospital sign. Go 8 to 9 miles take right on Brickland rd. 1/2 mile on right is club house. GPS: 3006 Brickland Rd South Hill, VA 23970

VOBA Annual Summer meeting and cookout!! Sunday July 14

The VOBA's yearly meeting and cookout will be Sunday July 14th at noon. I'm planning on having it at Cato Hill Hunt Club cabin again, got to check on the cabin first and make sure it's available but should be. Still going around what will be fixing for lunch so will post something soon on that. The meeting will start right after we eat as well as drawing numbers for this coming trial season so please try and make it if you are looking to get some decent numbers because we typically give out well over 200+ numbers at the meeting.

2013 VOBA Championship Hunt!!

What a way to end a great season with a fantastic Championship hunt at Callaville Hunt Club!! I want to thank everyone at CHC for their hard work making their two hunts this season great ones!! Congrats to Haven Beach for winning the females with Dixie and to Southern Styles for taking 1st in the males with Bullet. For the HPH winners congrats to Beach Billy once again for the 3rd year in a row (Hope this doesn't go to his head :-) ) winning the female class with Ember this year. Also to Whiteboy kennels for winning top honors in the male class with Trouble a great young dog which I'm sure will see more out of both of these two young dogs for years to come!!! Also a big congrats to Austin Arthur for making FC Smokey a field champion in the VOBA, this hound can get it done on the outside just as well as he can on the inside!! Our last stop of the year will be our annual Puppy & Old Timers Fox Hunt in May (more info to come on the puppy hunt soon).
