Hey Billy S, I think Beach is so scared of Sept 19th that he really can't even spell "HEAT" out lol

haha
hahaha I agree! That is what happens when you are shaking in your boots so bad your words become slured! lol It is probably that along with a combination of him swallowing too much salt water and drinking too many Coronas this past week. I heard his dogs all had to wear swimmies the other day when the Hampton area got flooded. He might need them for all those spring creek swamps...whatchu think! haha

YEAH!!
How did Hampton get flooded again??? Oh that's right from all them Beach Billy TEARS.....lol

Louisa Boys Do It All Night
Junior, I'm bringing a slew of Louisa boys with me, so you can meet a few other yokel locals. Always glad to have another friend to call to look for dogs :) Haven't decided how many dogs I'm bringing, 3 that I'm 100% on and one thats 50/50. Got a 17" male named BG(BigGuy) that just may represent Louisa well. Also if anybody knows the adress to the Spring Creek Club so I can GPS it, I'd appreciate it. Anybody bringing a Garmin Tracking System to the hunt that wouldn't mind me looking over your shoulder, and pester you with feedback questions?? Practice Session tonight...

louisa
sounds like a plan i cant wait till the 19th

Got 4 confirmed other Louisa boys coming too, they've allnumbers, dunno how many their bringing but should be a helluva time. Hoping to find another Warfield Red bloodline here in VA so I can branch out the tree. Thanks, Matt

Hey Josh, Shane is working nights this week...I'll call him today and let him know you need numbers!! Look forward to meeting all of the new folks interested in our Assoc, and again a BIG WELCOME to all!! See yawl Sat

A learning experience
Just curious, but is the cast always split up, and so unorganized as to a start time? We were in the second group of trucks to cast, and by the time we arrived at our cast site the other cast site had already cast, and their dogs were already running and scoring. Then we were told to wait until 7:25 to cast our dogs. Now I'm not taking away from the winners, there were some fine dogs out there, but none of the guys who cast at the second site with us got any scores either. We were all disappointed that out of 11 of our top dogs, not one was scored even once. I know from walking the area that there were very few judges in the area of the second cast site. Still had a blast, just want to know if this is the normal operations for hunts, might save money next time and bring fewer dogs, and cast where- ever the locals cast. May seem picky, but that extra 5 minute head start obviously helped the dogs get on trails and get scored. Again, I didn't expect to win, or place, but 1 score out of 11 dogs and 51 scored crossings would have made it a little more worth the drive and the money...Thanks

Perfect Ten....While I did cast in the front group...and ain't a local...the dogs that cast in the back jumped first from my vantage point. That being said...now my two cents!!! I did not place a dog in the hunt yesterday, and all mine did get scored...But something is very wrong when 50% of the dogs cast never score a point. There are many people who travel well over 2 hours to come to these hunts, and pay out alot of money to support these hunt clubs that put on these hunts. I have no idea how many judges were there yesterday but was told 22. That is a joke!! 22 judges would be about right in Billy Poole's 100 acre yote pen not in 5000 acres of outdoor running. I've heard the same excuse now at the last 2 trials I've been to. "there's a big hound hunt at Poole's today, so were a lil short on judges"!! I don't care if the Pope is holding a trial 10 minutes away...these trials are producing several thousand dollars woth of income for your clubs...Have people there to judge them!!! I'm not picking on Spring Creek Hunt Club solely...this has happened 3 times over the last year and if it doesn't get fixed soon...this sport in our area is gonna suffer. I really like all you guys that come to these trials in or outside the wire...but this has got to be fixed

My posts are deleted?
I posted twice some questions regarding the hunt saturday and the casting situation, but each posts has been 'mysteriously' deleted and not answered. I would like to know what happened? I'm not trying to bring bad press on the club, it is a great organization, but if I cannot express my concerns on the message board, then I'll take your ignoring my questions as your not wanting our participation. Thanks...

THANK YOU Huntin4yakennel
Thank you for voicing the same concerns. I'm glad we weren't the only ones who traveled so far and spent so much to be disapointed. We were all willing to purchase memberships and pay the dues until the scores came out. I agree, if you have more dogs than usual then you have more judges than usual. Not a bunch of kids joyriding/judging either. Your absolutely right Huntin4yakennels...they made a halfdozen club members worth of dues this weekend on entry fees alone. I just want a fair shot, not asking for any type of help, my dogs speak for themselves. But any time they want/NEED more judges, I know I'd be happy to recommend a few well seasoned fox hunters who'd be willing to work for beer and breakfast. Keep up the good work gentlmen, and let's mold this sport to suite those who pay the bills.. :) Thanks

Post reply
Hey guys, glad yall came out and I hope you had a good time. Sorry that yall didn't score any dogs and I know how you feel. Trust me, I've had that experience before in the past myself. I also had some of my best dogs not score any points. Most of them are the ones I put side bets on as well, which goes to show you that it's tough to get allot of scores this time of the year, with the woods being so green. I talked to some judges and they tried their best to get the crossings but just couldn't see the dogs sometimes due to the thick cutovers and I can relate, since I've done some judging to myself and it can be difficult sometimes seeing the dogs when it is thick like now. Now, I'm not sure how many judges they had there but the Spring Creek guys always put on a good hunt for us and try their best to get the most "fair" crossing as possible. I myself was on your side of the cast, near the front and we turned lose at 7:25 as well. As for your posts being deleted as you say, not sure whats going on there, since Phil is the only 1 that has access to this site to do that and we have been watching the Steelers get beat and just recently got on the computer. If you have anymore questions or concerns, just email or call us and we will be more than glad to talk with yall. Also, I don't even think I got a chance to meet all you guys the other day, but hope to see yall all at the next hunt after deer season, should be a great hunt with plenty of judges. Congrats to all that placed and I was glad to see all the new guys there to support our club and the hunt club.

Great turnout!
Thanks again to all the new guys/kennels who showed up for our first VOBA hunt of the new season! We almost had a record turnout of 231 dogs(I think 234 is the most), which was great for the early trials due to the thick woods and allot of guys dogs are not in the best of shape typically this time of the year. We picked up some new members and for those I couldn't get to, I will meet up with yall at the next trial. I seen allot of guys join from all different areas in VA and do agree with Perfect Ten, that allot of guys traveled from afar to be there and we do greatly appreciate you support. We just want to see this Association grow and help support our hunt clubs, while having fun doing the sport we love, running our dogs. I look to have one of our biggest hunts after deer season, so guys/gals get your dogs in shape and ready for the next one and good luck/safe hunting to all.

Let me clarify a few things about my previous post. 1st...I appreciate everything the Arnold's do for this sport and especially this organization!! 2nd...The guys that did judge the Spring Creek hunt are first class people and give it there all to get scores. 3rd...Perfect 10 Kennels please don't think this is how it is at every hunt. Last year at this same club there were over 200 crossings scored. They also go out of there way to help you catch your dogs up. All that being said, I still say that to run an outdoor trial with less than 40 judges will never work.

This has always been A problem with the fall hunt. If the game dosn't want to cross a road the dog's running it don't get scored. Every single one of us that has been going to these trials for any amount of time has had A day like yall's. I know you boy's where at the far end of the casting site and the only disadvantage is all of your dogs can group up together and not get scorred. They could of been the best pack there and just not seen. My advise is drop right in the middle of everybody else, that way when the large pack starts spliting you are almost guaranteed you will have dogs in scoring packs. We did end up with higher scoring than the hound hunt in mckinney which took 60 to get in and 180 to win it. so there had to be at least A little hussle with the judges that were there. One nice thing with being A club is that we get to revote on Hunt clubs and rules each year so anything that isn't working we get the chance to change. We Thank everybody that came I hope besides the scorring you had A great time and I can promise you after deer season the hunts get nothing but better.

We always cast in the same place all together and at the same time. If you got lost and weren't at the cast site you wouldn't hear the club yell out to go ahead and turn the dogs loose. I hate that happened. Also keep in mind outside hunts this time of the year are tuff on scoring everything is so green it makes harder on the judges to get scores and to score all the dogs running. I have been coming to these hunts for the last several years. It's a great group of guys and lots of fun! Give it another chance. Don't base you decision on one hunt. And don't get discouraged. It takes a great dog to win a hunt or place high but it also takes some luck. And ask anyone that has been doing it awhile your dogs can be unlucky and you can have a bad day.
